Some customers are afraid that after having received a Romanian passport they will have to give up the Ukrainian one. In practice, the situation is different. Indeed, according to Article 4 of the Constitution of Ukraine “There is single citizenship in Ukraine”. What does this mean?
The Government of Ukraine is trying to strengthen the responsibility of its citizens who have received or obtained the citizenship of another state. The members of the Ukrainian parliament have adopted an appropriate resolution according to which criminal liability is provided for hiding the second passport. But this resolution has not yet been signed by the President of Ukraine and, most likely, this will never happen. The current law of Ukraine does not expressly forbid having the citizenship of another state. It will simply not be recognized by the Constitution of Ukraine and in fact it is possible to have 2-3 citizenships if the migration service does not know about it.
