Mention is the procedure documenting a divorce or death of the spouse. It is an entry in the Romanian birth certificate that includes data about marriage / divorce / death in a person’s life.
In order to obtain a mention, you should submit the required documents to the Civil Status Service of the locality you have got married in or according to the particularities listed below in the article.
1. Romanian birth certificate;
2. Extract from the marriage certificate;
3. Divorce / death certificate;
4. Certificate of citizenship;
5. Identity card;
6. Passport;
The mention can be obtained at the Civil Status Service of Bucharest City Hall (if you have got married abroad) or at the City Hall of the city in Romania where you have got married (the marriage effected in Romania). The completion period is 45 days. The mention may also be obtained by a power of attorney, details at +373 (78) 680677.
To complete a mention, you have to go to Bucharest twice – to file papers and to take them, so 600 MDL for each direction plus tax and meal charges. State fees at the Civil Status Service of Bucharest are not paid.
