Article 8 – granting of Romanian citizenship to minor children
The documents necessary for the granting of Romanian citizenship to minor children, according to art. 9 para. 5 of Law No. 21/1991 (Article 8)
⇒ typical application
⇒ the child’s birth certificate for which the Romanian citizenship is requested, in a notarized copy, with translation and apostille / supra-legalization, as the case may be
⇒ confirmation of Romanian citizenship showing the date of acquiring the Romanian citizenship is to be obtained by the parent / parents submitting the application in copy (a certificate of citizenship or, in the absence thereof, a certificate issued by the GPD indicating the date of acquiring the Romanian citizenship)
⇒ the minor child’s residence permit, valid on the date of the application, in copy
⇒ confirmation of parent / parent’s income on the territory of Romania on the date of the application (the confirmation is made by one of the ways listed on the NCA website under Article 8 – necessary documents)
⇒ the notarized declaration with the consent of the other spouse regarding the granting of the Romanian citizenship to the minor child
⇒ the consent of the minor child over 14 at the time of filing the application for the granting of Romanian citizenship, given by the notarized declaration
⇒ certificate issued by the Directorate for Persons Record and Databases Management indicating that the parent / parents submitting the application are not in one of the situations provided by art. II of Urgent government order No. 65/2017.
